- American Guild of Organists (AGO) - AGO is the national professional association serving the organ and choral music fields. Founded in 1896 as both an educational and service organization, the Guild seeks to set and maintain high musical standards and to promote understanding and appreciation of all aspects of organ and choral music.
- American Musicological Society (AMS) - society for those interested in all fields of musical inquiry, including historical musicology, critical theory, music analysis, iconography and organology, performance practice, aesthetics and hermeneutics, ethnomusicology, gender and sexuality, popular music and cultural studies
- College Music Society (CMS) - The College Music Society, a consortium of college, conservatory, university, and independent musicians and scholars, exists to support its members in their professional and pedagogical goals. Recognizing the richness of musical diversity and the challenge of balancing the traditions of the past with the possibilities of the future, the members of The College Music Society are united by a dedication to the science of learning and the art of teaching.
- Historic Brass Society (HBS) - The Historic Brass Society is an international music organization concerned with the entire range of early brass music, from Ancient Antiquity and the Biblical period through to the 20th century.
- Historical Harp Society (HHS) - HHS strives to cultivate, foster, sponsor and develop love and appreciation of the art, history, literature and uses of historical harps.
- International Computer Music Association (ICMA) - ICMA is an international affiliation of individuals and institutions involved in the technical, creative, and performance aspects of computer music. It serves composers, computer software and hardware developers, researchers, and musicians who are interested in the integration of music and technology.
- International Double Reed Society (IDRS) - IDRS was established in December of 1971 and is a world-wide organization of double reed (oboe and bassoon family) players, instrument manufacturers and enthusiasts.
- Plainsong and Mediaeval Music Society (PMMS) - PMMS invites membership from people interested in chant or in music up to c1550. It was founded in 1888 for the advancement of public education in the art and science of music and in particular plainsong and mediaeval music.
- Society for Music Theory (SMT) - SMT was established in 1977 in order to promote music theory as both a scholarly and a pedagogical discipline. The goals of the SMT include fostering the development of all aspects of the discipline of music theory, including research and teaching.
- Society for Seventeenth-Century Music (SSCM) - The Society for Seventeenth Century Music is dedicated to the study and performance of seventeenth-century music and related arts.
- Sonneck Society for American Music (SSAM) - SSAM seeks to stimulate the appreciation, performance, creation, and study of American music in all its historical and contemporary styles and contexts. These include, but are not limited to, art ("classical") music, popular music, musical theater, folk music, music for the dance, church music, the musics of ethnic groups and minorities, and the full range of activities associated with music.

- Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) - advances the arts and sciences of motion pictures and to foster cooperation among the creative leadership of the motion picture industry for cultural, educational and technological progress.
- Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (ATAS) - The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences was founded in 1946, just one month after network television was born. It's a non-profit corporation devoted both to the advancement of telecommunications arts and sciences and to fostering creative leadership in the telecommunications industry.
- Association of Motion Picture Sound (AMPS) - AMPS promotes and encourages the science, technology and creative application of all aspects of motion picture sound recording and reproduction, and to promotes and enhances the status and recognition of the contribution of those therein engaged.
- Audio Engineering Society (AES) - AES is the only professional society devoted exclusively to audio technology. Its membership of leading engineers, scientists and other authorities has increased dramatically throughout the world, greatly boosting the society's stature and that of its members in a truly symbiotic relationship.
- BKSTS: the Moving Image Society - BKSTS's mission is to encourage, sustain, educate, train and represent all those who, creatively or technologically, are involved in the business of providing moving images and associated sound in any form and through any media.
- Cinema Audio Society (CAS) - the CAS was formed in 1964 for the purpose of sharing information with sound professionals and students in the motion picture and television Industry.
- Directors Guild of America (DGA) - the DGA represents more than 10,000 members working in U.S. cities and abroad. Their creative work is represented in theatrical, industrial, educational and documentary films, as well as television live, filmed and taped radio, videos and commercials.
- Institute of Broadcast Sound (IBS) - The IBS was founded in 1977 to meet a long felt need for a better interchange of ideas between practitioners in the various areas of broadcast sound.
- International Union of Radio Science (IURS) - The object of the International Union of Radio Science (Union Radio-Scientifique Internationale) is to stimulate and to coordinate, on an international basis, studies in the field of radio, telecommunication and electronic sciences.
- Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) - The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) serve as the voice and advocate of the American motion picture, home video and television industries, domestically through the MPAA and internationally through the MPA.
- The Professional Lighting and Sound Association (PLASA) - PLASA is the leading trade association within the entertainment technology industry.
- Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE) - SBE is a non-profit organization serving the interests of Broadcast Engineers. Membership, international in scope, consists of studio and transmitter operators and technicians, supervisors, announcer- technicians, chief engineers of commercial and educational stations , engineering vice presidents, consultants, field and sales engineers. Also, broadcast engineers from recording studios, schools, CCTV and CATV, production houses, corporate audio-visual departments, and other facilites.
- Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) - SMPTE is the preeminent professional society for motion picture and television engineers, with over 9,000 members worldwide.
- Society of Operating Cameramen (SOC) - The Society of Operating Cameramen, formed in l978, is an honorary organization composed of several hundred men and women internationally, of outstanding and dedicated talent, who make their living operating film and/or video cameras in the cinematic media.
Visual Arts
- American Society for Aesthetics (ASA) - ASA was founded in 1942 to promote study, research, discussion, and publication in aesthetics. "Aesthetics," in this connection, is understood to include all studies of the arts and related types of experience from a philosophic, scientific, or other theoretical standpoint, including those of psychology, sociology, anthropology, cultural history, art criticism, and education. "The arts" include the visual arts, literature, music, and theater arts.
- College Art Association (CAA) - CAA includes among its members those who by vocation or avocation are concerned about and/or committed to the practice of art, teaching, and research of and about the visual arts and humanities.
- Inter-Society for the Electronic Arts (ISEA) - ISEA is an umbrella organization whose membership consists of a wide range of electronic art institutes and organizations, as well as individuals - artists, scientists and other interested parties.
- International Council of Museums (ICOM) - ICOM is devoted to the promotion and development of museums and the museum profession at an international level.
- Visual Resources Association (VRA) - VRA is a non-profit organization established to further research and education in the field of visual resources and to promote a spirit of cooperation among the members of the profession.
